From Tyler Oakley:
To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, I’ve been working on a special video about the impact Stonewall had on what we now celebrate as LGBTQ+ Pride. Before there were the festivals, parades and concerts, there was the Christopher Street Liberation Day March - a year after Stonewall. I partnered with my friends Matthew Riemer and Leighton Brown (of the Instagram account @LGBT_History) to share the stories of the first Pride March.
Matthew Riemer and Leighton Brown, founders of @lgbt_history on Instagram, discuss their desire to make queer history more inclusive, accurate and accessible.
From It Gets Better:
Before starting the Instagram account @LGBT_History in 2016, Matthew Riemer and Leighton Brown knew very little about their queer foreparents. Now, one wildly successful social media account and a book later, the pair is sharing their knowledge with the world.
